Rules

The poet must perform a poem of their own, of any style, within 3 minutes without the aid of props or music.
5 randomly selected audience members will become judges and are given score cards to score the poet from zero to 10. The poets with the highest scores after 2 rounds of poems are the winners of cash prizes. Every slam has 10 spots open for poets with the top 5 going on to the 2nd round.
How the Vancouver Slam Poetry Team is Chosen
If you are interested in qualifying for the 2007-08 Poetry Slam Finals you must place in the overall top 16 poets with a combination of highest score achieved and ranking to match, in the season from September 2007 through April 2008. The Vancouver Poetry Slam Semi-Finals and Finals will be shortly afterward. The top 4 poets from each semi-final will compete in the final. The poems that are read in the semi-final cannot be repeated in the final. The four top scoring poets at the Finals night will become the 2007-08 Vancouver Poetry Slam Team.
Poet standings will be posted on this website when the qualifying season resumes in September, and updated on a bi-weekly basis. We will also post the results of each slam so that you can follow the progress of your favourite poets.
