The Vancouver Poetry Slam team competed in its first bout at the National Poetry Slam in Austin, Texas last night. They placed third in their match. They sit at #29 out of the 75 teams participating, which is a very decent position. The team needs to rank in the top 25 to advance from the opening rounds to the semi-finals. A Van Slam team has never made it to the semis, although several have come within a fraction of doing so. (click here to learn more about the history of Van Slam teams).

The scores in the first bout were: 23.9 for Scruffmouth, 25.3 for Vitamin F, and 28.3 for Nora.
