One of our favourite self-deprecating chants at the poetry slam is: “Poetry are the lowest paid artistic profession in Canada. Even mimes make more and they have nothing to say!” Until this changes, poet will need support to continue producing great poetry. Vancouver Poetry House is there to help them, and to that end, we ask that you help us with your fabulous generosity.
Donations assist us in running all of our amazing programs, help us pay artists, and allow us to re-invest in this community that we love so much. Whether it’s $5 or $500, we’ll use it to make poetry happen.
Here are some of the very cool things that your donations help us to do:
- Run poetry workshops for elementary schools, high schools and community groups
- Subsidize the cost of artistic development workshops
- Pay amazing poets from all over North America and the world to come and feature at our shows
- Produce poetry festivals!
