On January 11th the Vancouver Poetry Slam is very proud to present our Wowps playoffs featuring Seattle's own, Christa Bell.
Christa Bell is a writer, poet, spoken word artist, and cultural activist from Seattle, Washington who received her BA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, has studied in Europe and lived in east Africa. She writes, performs and curates arts events throughout the Northwest, where she is also a competitive performance poet and founder of the Healing Is A Political Act (HIAPA) Creative Recovery Workshop Series.
This will be the competition that decides who will be representing Vancouver and Canada at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Columbus Ohio March 10th-13th.
The top 8 women from the regular season will be performing 4 minute, 2 minute and 1 minute poems with the poet with the highest total score being flown out to Columbus, Ohio. There will be no grace period on any of the rounds so poet make sure you're under time.
There will be a short open mic but preference will be given to women who want to share their work.
Where: Café Deux Soleils, 2096 Commercial Drive
The doors and open mic signup will be at 8 PM
The Open Mic starts at 8:45 PM
and the Slam begins at 9:00 PM
Cover is $5-10 sliding scale.
