In preparation for the Haiku Deathmatch Alt Slam on Mon., Nov. 9, we are having a Haiku Deathmatch workshop.
Sat., Oct. 24 2-4pm Free Britannia Library, Gallery Room
- Behind in writing your 50 haiku? (you only need 20 but 50 or more is suggested) - Want an edge in the competition? - Not competing but want to explore a different, supercharged style of poetry?
Can you answer questions like: - When is the best time to pull out that showstopper haiku? - How do you know which ones are your winning haiku? - How can you write an audience-grabbing haiku?
We will cover: - What elements of traditional haiku to keep and which to throw out for a Deathmatch battle - What will set your haiku apart from the competition - Strategies from the pros, such as: --- Top 10 tips from the host of the national head to head haiku competitions. --- The 1 mistake that Jack McCarthy says to avoid making. - Time for writing

All are welcome. You don't have to be in the competition to participate in the workshop.
