I think it's Jerri-Lynne Webster.  I have her name and contact info with correct spelling at home somewhere.

What was the result of the Van Slam meeting?  Are we sending anyone to the US to compete in WOWs?  How many?

Shannon,

I don't think there was a question of if we're sending a rep. Who ever wins Jan 5th goes and if its Lisa, I'll go as slammaster.

As it stands now, Wowps and slammasters will be taking place simultaneously...thusly Lisa Slater will be going regardless and if she makes it, I'll go representing Vancouver as the slammaster proxy. Having been both an organizer and a participant at some events I would have to say that I think it would be unfair to Lisa to have her focus on both the meetings and her own poetry while she's there. If she goes as Vancouver's rep than I think we owe it to her to let her go as that.

In January, we'll have a year in review segment for the Van Slam family meeting and we'll see what people want for the next year and if we're willing to do the fundraising if nec. (say in the case of sending a second rep to Wowps in following years).

I've checked out the PSI forums, and it's unclear when the Slammasters' meeting associated with WOWps will take place. If I'm the rep, regardless of whether the SM meeting is during the day events of the festival, or whether it is the day before or the day after, I will be attending all of the SM business stuff. My role as SM comes first.

Okay, that being said...

I'll go over the books in the next couple of days and at the Van Slam Family meeting in January we can see if we can afford or if we want to pay for a second rep to go to Wowps.

The Women of the World poetry slam playoffs had the café rocking as hard as it ever has. I will post official results as soon as I have them, but for all the keeners (or poetry fans who came to late and weren't able to get in to the sold out show), Sasha Langford won, in convincing fashion, and will be Vancouver's rep at the 2009 Women of the World Poetry Slam in Detroit, Michigan.

Chris - do you have the order of each of the rounds? I wouldn't mind taking a look at that as well...

The names are listed in the result above in the order they performed in the first round. I don't have the order for the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Sorry.
