Crackerjack Lipsmacker Youth Poetry Slam with Jeremy Loveday
« on: November 03, 2011, 02:53:58 PM »
There will be no  Youth Poetry Slam in DECEMBER so this is the last youth slam of the year...featuring Victoria's, Jeremy Loveday

The Youth Poetry Slam is open to all poets between 13-22 years of age.  All poetic styles are welcome.  We have a poetry open mic for those not wanting to compete and we of course have the slam.

You are allowed to read one poem only on the open mic and it must be three minutes or less.  If you are going to read in the poetry slam competition then you need at least 2 poems to perform.  Rules include, no props, no costumes, no musical accompaniment (pre recorded or live) and there is a 3 minute time limit.

Sign up starts at 7pm.  Show begins at 8.

Here's more about Jeremy

Jeremy Loveday is Victoria’s 2010 Individual Poetry Slam Champion and a three time member of the Victoria Poetry Slam team. Jeremy has captivated a diverse array of audiences across Canada and beyond with his personal and impassioned performances.  Jeremy is Tongues of Fire's Youth Outreach Coordinator and one of the principal organizers of the Victoria High School Poetry Slam Championships.  He also helped found South Korea's first poetry slam.

Performance highlights include The Canadian Festival of Spoken Word (2010 and 2011),  The Victoria Spoken Word Festival (2011), The Islands Folk Festival (2011) and the Vancouver International Poetry Festival (2011) where his  poem"Come Home Canada" was chosen as a festival highlight.

In 2011, Jeremy won the Audience Choice Award at the Finals Night of the "Imagine a World Without Hate" song and poetry contest.

What other folks are saying:

Jeremy Loveday's poetry captures the magic of being alive. It's as simple as that. The audience is laughing and crying and most of the time they are doing both. His sold out show at Tonight it’s Poetry in Saskatoon will be one to remember. Like his breathtaking poetry, it was truly amazing.
Charles Hamilton, Executive Director of Tonight it’s Poetry, Saskatoon’s only weekly poetry series.

Jeremy Loveday is a smoldering typhoon of images, spewed with so much passion, the shaman in me starts jumpin' and screamin', sexy! do it Loveday! Show me your fireplace eyes and smack your slam lips so all 9 muses in me go burlesque! - Regie Cabico
