I just wanted to put this out there. The Queer slam last night was awesome. Congrats should be give to all the performers but in particular the group piece from the Foxy house was amazing as was the work of Mimi--a first time slammer--who knocked our socks off.
Kimothy and Ms. Spelt (our 1st and 2nd place finishers of the evening) were as always, phenomenal.
And Suzy Lafoyette (the feature from Austin) did a beautiful set with a little dedication for Shannon Leigh, a little call and response, and my favorite (as you might expect), some love poetry.
Again, phenomenal show...the place was packed, the volunteers were flawless and the only person to be asked to leave (the cowboy who was trying to drink his own alcohol on the premises) was seen in ripe form streaking down commercial drive. Surprises, good poems, great vibe.
