A new qualifying season is underway to determine which poet will have a chance to become the next Individual World Poetry Slam representative for Vancouver.  The IWPS slam off will be September 13th.

The point system is the same one we’ve been using since September 2009 but it’s completely different from previous years. It is a points system. You can read about how it all works here:
http://vancouverpoetryhouse.com/forum/smf/index.php/topic,1142.0.html

The point system should become clear very quickly.  With that in mind, here are the results from the first qualifying slam.

After the poet's name is the order that they performed in the first round, then their first round score. After that is the position they performed in the second round (if they made the cut) and their second round score, followed by their total score for the evening.

Yes.  The dates are October 13 - 16th I think but I'll get confirmation.  I know that's it's almost exactly at the same time as CFSW and that's a drag.

Just so no one else brings it up, I think Antonette's total should be 54.6 not 51.7.  This would put her in 3rd.  Otherwise Ria would have been in 3rd.

Jesus I'm bad with numbers.  Even when they're written down for me, I screw it up.  I'll get on this and correct it.
[EDIT] Okay I've redone the standings and the scores.  Thanks for the good eye, RC.  Wish I was better at this.

If you were that much better at numbers, Duncan, we might lose you to the math slam.

Antonette is still third is she not instead of fourth?

Maybe math is problematic when you are tall.  The numbers are afraid of heights.
