The regular slam season got underway with a roaring start. The place was packed, and we had to break out the extra seats. Valentino Assenza was wowed by Vancouver, and we were wowed by him. He performed a great feature set. And Barbara Adler acquitted herself admirably as our fantabulous host.
All the poets stepped up their game, trying to qualify for the slam play-offs this spring. Last night’s top scorer, Brendan McLeod, has secured himself a place in the semi-finals with a combined score of 57.7. Clint ‘Father Goose’ Wilson also has a good shot at a play-off berth with a second place finish on a high scoring night. He finished with a score of 56.0. In third was Richard Lett with a 55.8. Then, our slam veteran, The Svelte Ms. Spelte, placed fourth with a 55.7. And newcomer, Shannon Rayne, made the second round, and finished with a 54.2.
